Giving Back

As some of you may know, Ed suffered a heart attack in April, 2009 and subsequently had open heart surgery.  He is fully recovered, and active as ever (he’s trekked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and rides his bike 20-25 miles per day!).

As a result of the surgery, he became aware of a support group called Mended Hearts, a national organization affiliated with the American College of Cardiologists. Mended Hearts works with heart patients, their families and others impacted by heart disease to help them understand that their lives can be rich and rewarding after heart disease.

Five years ago, Ed started a chapter of MH at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs where he had his surgery and along with 6 volunteers have visited over 1300 heart patients and 1000 caregivers. Each year, the WILSON World Tennis Classic donates a portion of each entry fee back to the chapter. If you are interested in MH or would care to make a donation in its name, please let us know.
